I’m at a point where I’m stressed out and I’m burned out. I haven’t had a break from the kiddos for a while, it’s been crazy hectic at work for the past couple of months, and we just zeroed out our bank account to pay for a cow that we weren’t really expecting (more on that later).
What I could really use is a weekend away at a 5-star hotel, getting pampered and massaged from head-to-toe, binging on my backed-up Netflix queue and ordering room service like it’s nobody’s business. But, like I just said, we are a little broke at the moment, so there’s absolutely no room for such frivolous spending.
Super. So, what’s a girl to do? Well, I’ll let you in on my super cheap way of unwinding. It requires a little bit of work, but it’s so worth it.
Step 1: Wash your bedding
I know this is a little annoying to do at night, but just do it. Even if you’ve washed it recently, just wash it again and put it in the dryer.
Step 2: Take a hot shower and shave your legs (while your bedding dries)
If you’re anything like me, especially in winter, your legs will probably need a good shaving. We’re talking about the whole leg, not just your ankles. Once your out of the shower, rub a good moisturizer on them to avoid crocodile skin.
Step 3: Make bed while the sheets are still warm from the dyer
As soon as you’re ready for bed, take your bedding out of the dryer and make the bed as quickly as possible.
Step 4: Crawl into bed
Seriously, there’s no greater feeling than crawling into a freshly made bed with freshly shaved legs. I never sleep better than I do on those nights. Read a book, watch a show, journal, play a game on your phone, or just go to sleep! Do whatever relaxes you!
There it is. My simple formula for instant relief when I’m feeling overworked, tired, stressed and run down. It’s super easy to do and I’ve found it to be quite effective…until the next morning, that is ;).
